Cool, Foodie Paradise Austin, Texas.

Austin is a young, vibrant city with a great food culture. There are not only a wide array of restaurants to choose from, there are also the very popular food trucks. Apart from the successful business and technology scene, the city also boasts to be “The Live Music Capital of the World”, hosting a very active Live Music Scene, cultural performances and art events throughout the year. The South by Southwest Festival in March every year fills the city with Music and Film for 9 days.

The area around South Congress is filled with restaurants, food trucks, second hand and vintage stores, design shops, local labels and of course cowboy boots. A very cool laid back vibe, the style is always very casual here. What struck me was how dog friendly the place was, dogs were welcome everywhere and a bowl of water always served up immediately as soon as you sat down for your thirsty pooch. I must mention the Austin Dog Rescue who do a terrific job with abandoned and rescued dogs and all the people who foster them until they find their forever home. They should all be commended for such devotion shown to our four legged friends.

I enjoyed my stay in the city, the people are friendly and welcoming, satisfied my craving for good Mexican food, witnessed the most amazing sunsets, and went crazy in Whole Foods. I do hope that they can continue live up to their slogan “Keep Austin Weird”, in keeping with the laid back, creative Austin vibe. Definitely a city worth visiting.
