Elsa Chartin’s “Trans-parence/Super-position” at @fiberspacegallery. Three reworked patterns from the beginning of the 18th, 19th and 20th centuries. Transparency, layers and visual transitions have been sublimated into among other things, polyester fabric from printing frames. @elsachartin.art

Swedish artist and illustrator Yoyo Nasty uses humour and playfulness to create colourful images. Inspired by the way cartoons convey visual stories and emotion, Yoyo creates a world of her own. The process alternates intuitive and strategic methods through observation and depiction, but with a heavy use of imagination. Bold colours are combined in unusual ways to strike a perfect harmony. Nature is a constant inspiration but is reproduced in an unnatural way. The dangerous tiger’s body is distorted and long with swaying curved legs. Having graduated with an MFA from Konstfack in 2019, she’s already slated for two solo exhibitions this year! Lovely long chat with Carina Seth Andersson today, one of the country’s top designers. Working out of her studio in Gustavsberg she also has the @csa.showshop opened once a week in Södermalm. Filled with treasures, both her creations and also other Swedish designers and even some antiques picked up in Japan, a country she loves and gains lots of inspiration from. Always inspiring to stop by. Seen here the ceramic pots made for Fogia and vases for Marimekko and Skruf. Also the Pallo Junior Lava in a limited edition of 50 vases. Berlin based Swedish artist Katja Beckman creates sculptural tapestries through the experimental combination of weaving structures, techniques and materials. She explores the way memories and places appear when recalled in the mind. The last photos here are from a series called Walls of Berlin where she’s taken photos of old facades and interpreted them into tapestries using the Kasuri technique. As for the large tapestries:”Weaving at a big scale allowed me to combined structures of such varying forms and sizes that the results were uncontrollable in an organic way. They become sculptural as the surface of the weave buckles under its own weight. In this way it reflects the raw forms in nature, such as rock formations and moss that are shaped and changed by time.”@katjabeckman @walls.of.berlin

Swedish Industrial designer Jenny Nordberg’s “3 to 5 Seconds Mirror” is created by an old mirror making process using liquid silver. The chemical solution is poured on the glass surface, evaporates and leaves each mirror unique. “Nordberg is driven by a desire to develop strategies and alternative methods which counter the problematic aspects of mass production.” @jenny_nordberg Portrait: @petrabindel all other photos: @hostlerburrows

The design brief by @mylhta was to give a twist to the classic Little Pine Shelf that was designed in 1941 by Carl Malmsten. The result by the always creative designer Anna Kraitz is the CM+AK=SANT shelf. “Our history and knowledge from the elderly is necessary for future development in crafts and design. Swedish-Iraqi Sizar Alexis is a Beckman’s School of Design graduate whose work is strongly influenced by brutalist architecture, geometry and minimalism. His work is also deeply rooted to his ancestry traced to the Chaldeans who were the native population of Mesopotamia. For design week his Ode chair is on view at Stockholm’s Auktionsverket in a group exhibition titled “Inside Swedish Design”.
